We, The Association of Lithuanian Serials, express our full support for Ukraine which is suffering from the Russian invasion. This invasion is happening in today’s Europe, where we live and work.

Ukraine is a part of the European scholarly community and we stand by our Ukrainian colleagues. It is utterly heart-breaking and unacceptable that such an invasion can happen. We have been working together closely, productively, and successfully for many years with colleagues across Europe, including in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus, in scholarly journals publishing activities as publishers, peer-reviewers, Editorial Board members, etc. We value this collaboration, which based on shared scholarly values and mutual respect.

We urge our colleagues to take a decisive stance in support for Ukrainian academia and we call for the following:

  • Invite to provide academic and social support to students, teachers, and researchers from Ukraine;
  • Urge the research, academic and cultural society of Russia and Belarus to call for resistance to war and appeal to the consciousness of their nations who, historically, always remain responsible for the crimes committed in their name;
  • Urge to terminate the joint activities with the research, academic and cultural institutions of Russia and Belarus (projects, cooperation agreements, preparation of publications, participation in conferences, etc.).

We also urge the European Commission, as well as national governments and research funding agencies across Europe swiftly to prepare funding schemes to support Ukrainian academia and sustain their presence within the European Research Area.

Слава Україні! / Glory and peace to Ukraine!
