ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) is a unique international standard number of a periodical that identifies the title of the publication, regardless of country, language or medium in which it is published. Among the key aims of this numbering system is to promote the registration of serial publications and continuing resources, and improve information searching and dissemination on the international scale. ISSN number is a valuable means to publishers, traders, librarians and all users of information regarding serial publications. The presentation will focus on the use, purpose and advantages of ISSN numbering as well as applicable assignment rules.

Since 2012, Manager of the Lithuanian ISSN Agency, former Chief Librarian of the Cataloguing Unit. She is responsible for standard numbering and registration of Lithuanian serial publications and other continuing resources as well as collecting data on serial publications and sending of entries to the international database ISSN Register.
